A Fantastic Failure

The exhibition “A Fantastic Failure” tells a story about failure that sowed the seeds of the next success. Even though the N-Gage crashed and burned, it helped to build the foundation for the later success of Finnish games. The exhibition showcases users of the N-Gage, game developers and the engineers who developed the device.

The starting point of the exhibition is the home, from where the themes expand to infrastructure, production, raw materials, processes as well as recycling and reuse of materials. The exhibition, which will be on display until 2027, will be renewed throughout its life cycle.

Spanning multiple geographies and cultural positions, the artworks touch on the operations of chance, unpredictability, agency and control within the setting of the collection of the Museum of Technology in Helsinki.
