A Fantastic Failure

The exhibition “A Fantastic Failure” tells a story about failure that sowed the seeds of the next success. Even though the N-Gage crashed and burned, it helped to build the foundation for the later success of Finnish games. The exhibition showcases users of the N-Gage, game developers and the engineers who developed the device.

The starting point of the exhibition is the home, from where the themes expand to infrastructure, production, raw materials, processes as well as recycling and reuse of materials. The exhibition, which will be on display until 2027, will be renewed throughout its life cycle.

ei numeroa is a group exhibition that considers luck from a range of artistic perspectives. The Ghost and the Invention Device

The Ghost and the Invention Device is an interactive and child-centered learning environment that includes versatile learning methods. The environment together with museum objects support children’s creative museum engagement and encourages them to observe, handle and understand technology as a part of their everyday life.
All our exhibitions are designed to strengthen the experience of inclusion for all visitor, highlighting their own meaning as users and producers of technology.

The Museum of Technology

The Museum of Technology tells the story of technology in Finland. The Museum, founded in 1969, is located in the Old Town of Helsinki. It’s the only general museum of technology in Finland.

Our main exhibitions TechLand and TeleDreams tell the story of Finland from when it was an agrarian society to it becoming a leading developer and producer of high tech in the global market.

Our third exhibition The Ghost and the Invention Device is an interactive and child-centered learning environment that includes versatile learning methods.

The exhibition highlights the role of technology, industry and innovation in the construction of the over 100-year-old Finland. The exhibition reveals the influence of technology on daily life, work and the environment, showcasing the past, present and future of technology and industry.

Location and accessibility

Kuninkaankartanonsaari combines wonderful nature and industrial historical buildings. The Vantaanjoki river flows into Vanhankaupunginlahti on both sides of the island.
